Dear Holtz’s Heroes Family,

What a wonderful blessing to see many of you at the impromptu Holtz’s Heroes gathering in Atlanta. The Holtz’s Heroes tailgate brought together teammates and families from around the country and multiple generations. The deep respect and affection everyone has for Coach Holtz shone through in every smile, hug, and shared memory. Coach Holtz was so happy to see us and share how much he loves us.

It is truly inspiring to see how the values of Love, Trust, and Commitment continue to fuel our mission and the impact we make every day. In 2024, that spirit of generosity enabled us to collect 500,000 pounds of food to feed communities in need.

As we reflect on the values of Love, Trust, and Commitment, we also take time to honor the monumental contributions of Black athletes, coaches, and leaders, both within the Holtz’s Heroes family and throughout our communities. This Black History Month, we celebrate some of the trailblazers who have forever shaped our legacy.

  • Tim Brown ND ’88 – The first Black Heisman Trophy winner at Notre Dame. Tim’s outstanding leadership on and off the field continues to inspire all of us with his excellence and dedication.
  • Tony Rice ND ’90 – The first Black quarterback to lead Notre Dame to a National Championship. His legacy on the field, particularly his resilience and ability to break barriers, continues to inspire players today.
  • Tracy Graham ND ’95 – The first Black person to have a building named after him and his family at Notre Dame. The Graham Family Hall stands as a testament to Tracy’s extraordinary impact on the community and the university.

These individuals embody the spirit of perseverance, leadership, and excellence that have defined the Holtz’s Heroes family. Their contributions have paved the way for future generations, and their stories remind us all of the power of sports to bring people together and create lasting change.

As we continue to grow and build on the foundation laid by Coach Holtz and Holtz’s Heroes, let’s ensure that the values of equality, inclusion, and respect for all are upheld, both in our mission and in every event we undertake. Together, let’s keep the culture of Love, Trust, and Commitment alive.

There are several exciting events planned for 2025, and we need your continued support.

  • Food Drive with Graham Hall – April 11th – Notre Dame, IN
  • Irish Legends Gala & Golf Classic – June 6-7th – Plymouth, MI
  • Reunion – September 12-13th – Notre Dame, IN
