Dear Holtz’s Heroes Family,

It’s been an incredible month of September.

We kicked off the month in Miami at Jones Day alongside many members of the Holtz’s Heroes family. Together, we relived the legendary Notre Dame vs. Miami rivalry. Coach Holtz shared the unforgettable story of the pre-game scuffles, the intense hype surrounding the matchup, and how he famously said to save Jimmy Johnson for him. We all had a good laugh reminiscing about those glory days.

Over 50 members of Holtz’s Heroes returned to campus for our annual reunion. We celebrated our brotherhood, honored our Award Recipients, and were blessed to have Coach Holtz with us. He reminded us through both words and presence that the values of Love, Trust, and Commitment are not just football principles but life principles. These are the same values that have guided us for nearly 40 years, ever since Coach stepped onto campus in 1986 as Notre Dame’s Head Football Coach.

I was with Coach Holtz at the Notre Dame vs. Arkansas game, where we were joined on the field with Steve Beuerlein—Coach’s very first quarterback. It struck me that as much as things change, some things stay exactly the same. Coach continues to pour his heart into each of us, and never misses a moment to remind us how much he cares.

As Executive Director of Holtz’s Heroes, I keep him updated on your lives—your accomplishments, your families, and your service to communities.

And without fail, every single time, Coach responds the same way: “Make sure you tell him I love him.”

It’s love that drives the Holtz’s Heroes mission. It’s love that has bound us together all these years. And it’s love that continues to inspire our work and our lives today.

So from Coach Holtz and from all of us in the Holtz’s Heroes family: We love you. We love your families.

Love. Trust. Commitment.

Joining Forces to Fight Hunger

The Holtz’s Heroes Foundation has partnered with Graham Family Hall to host a food drive benefiting the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. This initiative continues the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to serving communities in need, a mission that has already resulted in more than 500,000 pounds of food donated nationwide.

Fans and supporters can still make a difference. Non-perishable food items will be collected every Friday before home football games from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Graham Family Hall.

Join Holtz’s Heroes in the fight against hunger and help ensure that no neighbor is left behind.
