John Foley has been in the Institutional Equity Sales side of Investment Banking for over twenty-three years. Prior to that, John worked in diverse roles within the printing and packaging industry, including RR Donnelly and Scott Paper. John is working in Private Equity today. John was Managing Director in Institutional Equity Sales at BTIG, John was responsible for closing over $300MM in the banking business within two years and generated over $8MM in commissions overall. Some of John’s notable achievements at BTIG included his involvement in moving many of the largest mutual funds in the country to top 30 rankings out of 150 firms globally with a limited product line. In addition, with John’s contributions, MFS, Invesco, William Blair and Columbia, all advanced in rankings above 150 competing Investment Banks in three years. Within BTIG John was well respected by his peers earning him the number one voter in each account and the only salesperson with this achievement. John’s ability to cross all of BTIG’s earned him the top Broker at BTIG.

John’s focus was turning around the Midwest Regional Sales and setting them on a path of growth.  Prior to working at Barrington, John built the Investment Banking side for KeyBank and Oppenheimer by bringing in new talent and training them on Value Research. The objective was to get the salespeople to challenge “the status quo” and to be independent thinkers.

John was a member of the 1988 Notre Dame National Championship Football Team and worked under Lou Holtz 1987/1990. John was USA Today player of the year in 1985 and Parade All American. 

John ended his college career in the Cotton Bowl with a Neck Injury. John has three sons Ryan, Tyler and Nick and recently welcome his grandson Knox. John lives in Austin Texas.
