Dear Holtz’s Heroes Family,

I hope this message finds you all enjoying the spring season. My wife, Christina, and I recently hosted a baby shower for our daughter and her husband. It was truly heartwarming to see the love and care that went into every detail, particularly Christina’s thoughtful planning to make everything extra special as we prepared to welcome our granddaughter.

This experience reminded me of one of the three rules Coach Holtz always emphasized—show people you care. It was a lesson we carried with us, both as his players and within our families and communities.

I vividly recall my time when I worked at Notre Dame and received a request from a member of the 1949 National Championship Team who was confined to a wheelchair. All the Notre Dame alumnus wanted was to step onto the hallowed grounds of Notre Dame Stadium, where he had once stood as a player, feeling the roar of the crowd and the weight of the legacy that had shaped his years there.

I remember navigating through challenges, asking questions, and making time in my schedule to make his dream a reality. Despite some roadblocks, we managed to get him onto the field, and there was no feeling greater. His daughter later sent me a letter of gratitude, saying that I had made her father’s year—and even though he passed away a few short months later, I’ll always treasure that letter. It was a powerful reminder of how deeply the rules of life Coach Holtz instilled in us—to show people you care—continues to live on.

As we navigate our own journeys, we carry with us the values of Love, Trust, and Commitment. It is our mission to continually serve others and make our families, our workplaces, and the world a better place.

I am so grateful to each of you for being a part of my life and for all the ways we support and care for one another.

Love, Trust, Commitment
